After reaching the search page, use the instructions below to select the county and municipality and other choices you want.
The drop down selection window is indicated by the small, downward pointing triangle. Click on the triangle to make your selection.

If you have selected "Simple Search" in Step 4 you will see the following additional entry screens.
Most users will not have enough information for Location, Block, Lot and Qualifier. If so, enter it. If not, enter owner's last name. The name must be spelled correctly. You may have to experiment with the spelling of names to get it correct.
After entering your search criteria, click on "Submit Search"

As an example, I have chosen the following information for my search criteria:

Step 3: Downe Twp.
Step 4: Simple
Step 5: Standard
As a search example, I used the Downe Township mayor, Chester Riland. I have used his name in the "Owner Name" search criteria and after clicking on "Submit Search" I received the following search results:

All of the column headings are self-explanatory with the exception of "Detail". Notice that in the Detail column, there is a hyperlink to "More Information". I selected the first item in the list for Mr. Riland's property at Block 12, Lot 7 and received the following results:
The above information is typical of the information received for any tax search using the Search Records hyperlink.
Interesting sections of the material are:
- Comparison of Block and Lot numbers for current information and the Prior Block and Lot from the previous tax map.
- The property location is often different from the Owner's address such as with summer homes or business property.
- Land Desc: shows the amount of acreage which can be compared in the "Land/Imp/Tot" section.
- Note that for lots with buildings there are amounts listed for the building, the lot and the total assessment
Tips on how to do searches more quickly:
- After doing a search and reviewing the material DO NOT click on "New Search" unless you want to CHANGE the county and municipality search criteria. Selecting "New Search" will force you to re-enter all of your search criteria.
- Instead of selecting "New Search" select "Previous Screen" and highlight the previously entered name and change it to the new name you want to search.
- Get the spelling of the Owner correct. Misspellings will
give the impression that no assessment exists because of zero results
REMEMBER: The information available and described here is all PUBLIC INFORMATION which can be accessed in person at the municipal tax office in which property is located. Using the Internet-based data you can snoop on your friends and neighbors without having the personnel in your local tax office know that you are curious.
